Just Fab and Abbey Dawn Collaboration

Will the sweet, petite, punk rocker and the famous, fabulicious, shoe club make beautiful music together?

In 2008 Abbey Dawn launched a rockin’ fashion line for girls. The styles were hot and bold. I liked them and my nieces demanded them!

More recently Abbey Dawn has become a “completely online” retailer, offering screaming hot, music inspired clothing and accessories for women and men.

Now, next month, Avril Lavigne and Abbey Dawn will be releasing select shoes and bags from their line exclusive to JustFab members! 12 Shoes and 5 bags in total.

And There’s a Contest

To start things off with a bang, Abbey Dawn and JustFab are having a contest. I originally found out about it when I got a message from Just Fab through twitter. The lucky winner gets VIP access to the Abbey Dawn / JustFab Launch Party, You have to enter on their facebook page!. You know that party will be off the hook. I’ve already submitted my entry… Wish me luck!

I really liked the bold, in your face style of the Iron Fist shoes I ordered. I am really excited about seeing the Abbey Dawn Collection.

Just Fab Reviews| Iron Fist's Break in Back and SIde views

I have had little to complain about Just Fabulous. Their track record is great in my opinion. So this month, I decided to give Iron Fist a crack. JustFab feels confident enough to offer these designer shoes. I figure if they put their reputation on the line, the shoes must be good.

Iron Fist has very “In Your Face” designs. These shoes are not for your grandma! With designs featuring zombies, Skulls, and blood red lips, these shoes are not for the faint of heart. But if you have a wild side and aren’t afraid to be noticed, These shoes, and bags  are for you!

The black box has a very modern grungy (think hardcore tattoo) logo. Upon opening the box, I was wowed with the bold, deep red and black striped pattern. It’s a very powerful visual. It would be impossible to miss these babies. I ordered the Break In’s, one of the tamer styles in the Iron Fist line up.

You can click the picture to see a hi resolution version, but I don’t want to hear any remarks about my flaky dry skin!

One note about the size of these shoes. I am a 6. These shoes are a 6, but because of the open toe and the height of the heel, they are slightly loose. I can wear them and walk around comfortably but I think a lady with size 6.5 would fit in these perfectly. I don’t think this would be the case with the closed toe shoes. If you’re a 6.5, I bet you would need a 7 closed toe Iron Fist.

The quality of these shoes are noticed immediately. They have nice tight seems, nothing frayed. The colors are vibrant and bold, and they feel durable. After wearing them, I understand why Just Fabulous works with Iron Fist.

Complaints I Have Seen

I have seen quite a few posts on other sites complaining about JustFab.com and shoe of the month clubs in general. I have seen some pretty outrageous complaints and I wonder who is running those sites. If I was new to shoe clubs, it would turn me off and I would leave them alone like the plague, thinking they were all scams.

Have you heard of JustFab.com? If you’re a shoeholic like me, and Jimmy Choo, Steve Madden, Valentino, and Kate Spade make you drool, you need to know them. Just a quick shoe tip

A Facebook friend, Marybeth Kelly Spencer, posted this and I wanted to share it.

Warning! This may void warranty. Please, no complaints if the shoes get stained or damaged.

DIY Shoe Stretcher:

Rubbing alcohol spray (home-made shoe stretcher): Make a spray of 50 percent rubbing alcohol and 50 percent water in a spray bottle. Spray the inside of each shoe and wear for about 20 minutes.[2] An alternative to this is to simply rub alcohol directly onto the parts of the shoe requiring stretching; put the shoe or boot on while still wet, as the alcohol will dry quickly. Another variation is to take a pair of cotton socks, soak them in rubbing alcohol and squeeze out the excess. Then put on the socks and wear with the shoes until the alcohol dries. Repeat several times if necessary.

So far that is. I haven’t had them long enough to pass judgement. I can say that upon first reaction, a complaint I could not find. I love these adorable shoes! They are flats and I do like a modest heel due to my lack of “elevation”, but what these shoes lack in height, they make up for in personality.

Once again my camera doesn’t capture how nice these shoes look in person :(   I am using a Kodak point and shoot camera It’s a total disappointment!, and friends say I need to invest in a better camera. Any suggestions? I think my camera’s flash is too strong or something. I am reading up on how to take better pics too!

Out of the box I first noticed the beautiful pleated accent was just how the Just Fabulous photos portrayed them. Very cute! And the little silver ball dazzle the eye!

I am guessing this is not a JustFab.com exclusive shoe because it’s not JustFab branded.

The stitching is uniform and I didn’t find any loose threads, although I did notice a small bead of material where the sole meets the toe of the shoe. It may be a little bit of glue. It’s one of the only flaws I have found so far. and it’s hard to see unless the shoe is right in your face, not enough for me to complain, but it is there.

My plans are to wear them a few times and report back with reviews after my December purchase.

My October Purchase – Part Two

Well into November, I can finish up my October review of the Verse. I took it on a few outings and got an overall feel for the bag. I got a lot of good comments about it from friends and a stranger or two. JustFab has a winner here (with only a couple issues imho).

My favorite feature is, like I thought, the zippered rear wallet compartment. I found I used it quite a bit. The zipper opened smooth and easy and I had instant access to my credit cards and cash. I ended up putting my cell in here too.

The inside of the bag had room for all my stuff and more. To me this was a slight downside, the bag was a bit too big (my niece seemed to like the size though). I guess it depends on how much stuff you carry and personal taste. I love the inside pattern and the outside color matched my Kindle cover perfectly!

I ended up doing a weight test using my neighbor’s bodybuilding weights. I put two ten pound weights in this bag and the chain strap felt nice and secure. I did this on a whim and didn’t take pics, but my neighbor says I can use them whenever; I might make this it a standard part of my reviews! JustFab quality gets five stars here.

One thing I found a little tricky was the magnetic clasp that keeps the front closed. It’s fricken strong! I am guessing this is to keep pick pockets out. There was a couple times I had trouble getting it open. When the magnet latches on, it’s on! You can’t just pull it. It takes a kind of twist pull motion to open. So be careful. I could see if you pulled too hard the clasp could tear loose from the top.

So my overall opinion is: Great vibrant color dazzles, beautiful pattern inside, Nice places to organize, great wallet access, strong chain strap, A little too big for my taste, and the clasp is very strong (too strong). I give JustFab Verse a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

My niece gives it 4 out of 5 and she wants to keep it.

Just Fabulous on Facebook

Any great website needs to stay up on Facebook. JustFab has a big following there. I am on Facebook a lot and most of the time it’s reading posts on the Justfab Facebook page. This is a great place to find up to the minute information on JustFab or to ask other’s opinions on an item.

JustFab recently made boutiques sharable to Facebook friends, You can view their boutiques and they can view yours and you can pick items from each other’s boutiques. Very cool for when your boutique isn’t doing it for ya (a problem I haven’t had yet).

Shipping & Handling

Shipping is free and JustFab.com use FedEx “Smart Post”. I have heard that this can be an issue with some local post offices and you might have to talk to the post office if they are being slow.
As far as packaging, I haven’t had an issue yet. The merchandise has always arrived undamaged and looking good. I haven’t had to send anything back yet, but my friend did.
Shipping is free both ways. She called customer service and talked to a representative who, she said, was very nice and there was no problem. She got a different pair of shoes and is totally happy.
